Lords of Trade and Plantations communications, 1743-1768.

Official communications from the King and Council, Lords Commissioners of the Admiralty, and Parliament, through the Board of Trade, to the colonial governors of Connecticut. The two major topics in these missives are the impressment of American men as sailors on British Ships, and the poverty of the colonies from their defense of the frontier and the invasion of Cape Breton in Canada. Other items of interest include a declaration of war against France in 1744, orders for the colonies to grow indigo, a request for the boundaries of Connecticut, the notification of the death of the king, and an order to gather all of his Majesty's arms and supplies still in the colonies. Many of the documents from 1755 onward complement those in the Thomas Fitch papers.
